Iguassu Falls - Argentine side

Departure from the Hotel bound for Iguassu Falls, 30 kilometers from downtown Foz do Iguassu and 24 kilometers from Puerto Iguazu. Arrival to the Visitors Center and the Iguazu National Park Entrance. This center receives the visitor with an array of basic services like several snack bars, a restaurant, souvenir shops, toilets, medical attention and an interpretive building with giant panels showing the importance and the biodiversity of the subtropical humid forest.

In order to get to the catwalks from where the visitors will see the Falls, you will board a gas-propelled train, that will take you to the upper falls circuit and the Devil’s Throat. Tours to the Argentine side of the Falls take place through the lower circuit catwalks, with a duration of one hour and the upper circuit with an approximate duration of 50 minutes. The access to San Martin Island is through the catwalks of the lower circuit. This visit will last 1 ½ hour.

In order to visit the Devil’s Throat, the visitor must board the train at the Main Station or at the Cataratas Station, close to the Upper Circuit. For those who love trekking there is the one-kilometer-long Sendero Verde (Green Trail) that connects the Visitors Center to the Cataratas Station and to the Upper Circuit.

Once you are at the Devil’s Throat Station you will have to walk for 1.100 meters on a flat catwalk built over the Upper Iguassu River. This catwalk crosses several islands where there are snack bars to cater to visitors. Once you get to the end of the catwalks, you will be surprised by a strategic lookout point resting on the side of the gorgeous Devil’s Throat. The tour to Devil’s Throat has an approximate duration of 2 hours.

Lookout point at Devil’s Throat Each station and catwalks have snack bars and toilets to cater to the visitor. During this visit the Falls will be seen from up close allowing for the detailed appreciation of both flora and fauna as well the Falls who are literally at the reach of one’s hands.

 

Iguassu Boat Safaris - La Gran Aventura

This is a not to be missed tour!

Going up river in these boats specially prepared to get to the base of Iguassu Falls and to be able to admire and feel them from up close. Whirlpools, waves and currents provoked by the Falls add adrenaline and lots of emotions to this unforgettable tour.

In the Iguazu National Park (Argentina), big trucks specially adapted to this tour will take visitors to explore 6 kilometers in the humid subtropical forest as far as the banks of the Iguazu River, downstream from the Falls. From here participants will board special boats that will take them, at high speed, to enjoy one of the most unforgettable experience in the region: the direct and wet contact with the mighty Iguassu Falls! After this incredible emotion participants will get off the boat at the base of the Falls, on catwalk that connects to the lower visitation circuit of the Falls. This tour can be started in the reverse direction, from this catwalk downwards ending with the jungle truck ride.

Trekking in Iguaçu

Macuco Trail, Argentina – round trip: 6 km

A jungle walk in subtropical humid forest in the Iguazu National park for the observation of fauna and flora away from the noise of cars, human groups. Possibility to bathe at the base of a waterfalls. Accompaniment of a specialized guide.

Suggestion: this tour should be programmed as an extension of tour to “Iguassu Falls – Argentinean side”:

'Route of the Pioneers' Trail, Argentina, total: 10 km

It is the old road that connected the village of Puerto Iguazu to Iguassu Falls. Today it is located inside the National Park. A historical road - where vestiges of former times can still be found. This is one of the original ways to get to the Falls, following the steps of the first visitors.

The trekking is made with the accompaniment of guide specialized in fauna and flora and on 4 X 4 jeeps.

  • We suggest that mid-leg or even knee-high boots be used; repellent is a must; Easy level.
  • Suggestion: this tour should be organized as an extension to the "Iguassu Falls - Argentinean side Tour".

 

 

Birdwatching, flora and trekking
- half day tour -

 

Programm/Description:

6h: Departure from hotel and transfer to the Iguazu National Park Argentine side.

6h30: Arrival and boarding of the jeep that will take visitors to the area known to be good for birdwatching, inside the Iguazu National Park. This is the ideal moment to observe wildlife, the magical fauna’s wake up moment.

After circa one hour of birdwatching, departure to a trail through the Iguazu National Park jungle. Observation of the animals who may show up plus technical information on the profusion of plants, trees, lianas, creepers, epiphytes, shrubs and other plants.

Walk along a stretch known as the Pioneers’ Trail - open in the beginning of the 20th century as an access to reach the Falls; several stops to see reminders of constructions of that time.

10h30: Arrival to the Iguazu National park Visitors Center and return to hotel or there is the option of visiting the Argentine side of Iguassu Falls.

Included: transfers, tourist guide specialized in birdwatching and local fauna and flora, binoculars, guidebooks on birds and mammals of the area plus drinks.

  • We recommend that this tour be taken along with a visit to the Iguassu Falls’ Argentine side.

 

 

Mbyá Guarani Community of Yriapú Indian Community

The visit to the Indian village of Tekoa Yriapú of the Mbyá Guarani ethnical group offers the opportunity for a closer contact with the Guarani culture, a real dive into the Guarani world dimension, with information on the history, living and survival methods, handicrafts, religious traditions and much more.

Visit to a trail of approximately 800 meters along which miniature hunting traps have been installed in order to demonstrate how hunting used to be performed.

Visit to a replica of a Prayer House and a presentation of the Children Choir that sings songs pertaining to their religious tradition.

The visit will end at the Village’s courtyard where locally made handicraft is exhibited and sold to visitors which is part of their income.

Duration of visit: approximately 1 hour and a half.

Tourism Guide: a tourist guide specializing in the subject will accompany the visitor during the whole tour giving information before, during and after the visit. A guide belonging to the Community will receive the visitors and accompany the whole visit.

The visit takes place from 9 am to 6 pm except Saturdays and Sundays

This community is located on the Argentine side, next to the city of Puerto Iguazú, on the road that leads to Iguassu Falls, it is thus recommended that this tour be combined with a visit to the Argentine side of Iguassu Falls

Visitors on wheelchairs: restricted access - no paving, uneven groun

Contribution: on taking this tour every visitor is contributing to assistencial projects to this community: circa 15% of the total paid is deposited on a bank account owned by the community and earmarked for the installation of a health post in the community, also improvement in the school and other basic needs.

The Travel Agency Yasy Kerá, with the backing of the Argentinean Government and the community is responsible for receiving and depositing the money as well as recommending and orienting the way how the money will be used by the community.
